Dont’t be afraid to take up that space!

Whether you want to move better, learn how to lift, get stronger, grow your glutes, improve physical qualities of your sport, lose weight or try something new, there is a space in the gym for everyone. My most important rule to remember is that you deserve to be there just as much as anyone else does, don’t be afraid to take up that space.

That being said if you’re just starting out or you're relatively new to the gym I understand that it can be daunting, and it was daunting for me too at the beginning. Luckily for you i’m going to share my tips and tricks if you’re just getting started at the gym.

#1 Get a coach! Not only is it ideal to have someone qualified to give you the direction necessary to achieve your goals, it can also be great to have someone in your corner as your number 1 supporter when you start out. Someone to guide you through the things you are unsure about or overwhelmed with.

#2 Public gyms all tend to have their peak times something similar to 5-7pm. If possible my advice to you would be to avoid this time when starting out. You might find you have a better experience when there are less people around and you don't have to wait for equipment to be free at non-peak times.

#3 Music can help distract you from the people around you and enable you to focus on yourself and what you’re doing, so find a playlist that makes you feel good and turn it up!

#4 Wear something you’re comfortable in, no there isn't a rule that your sports bra and leggings have to match, or you have to master the art of the t-shirt tucked into your shorts. Wear something you feel confident in and can move about properly in. You don’t want to be in something that makes you feel self conscious or you have to keep adjusting.

I hope you find these useful!

Don’t forget to check back next week for another blog post!
